any headphone experts?

i currently own sennheiser px200s which are good on the go for edm, hip hop and rock. i'm lookin to upgrade to grado sr80s but i've been reading that they're only good for rock and the bass is somewhat lacking for edm. website like www.headfi.org have good reviews but i'd rather hear from personal experience, esp. with headphone quality with regards to edm. budget is up to 300 bucks.

sennheisers do rock, they're fragile though, so consider how often you travel w/ your headphones before you buy em.

hd25s are probably the best bet for djing, as they have fair isolation, are durable, and light as hell. Of course their sound it gret as well.

Hd280s would probably be more favourable over hd25s for production as they have a bit of a flatter sound, and circumaural ear cups. Some people still prefer these even for djing, because they might be more comfortable with circumaural cups, also they block out a shitload of sound compared to most other dj phones. The only thing that makes the hd280s less djable than the hd25s for me is the fact that they arent quite a durable, they actually have a bit of a cracking problem...although they do have a hefty warantee if you dont mind having them replaced 2 or 3 times.

Oh yeah, I would also like to suggest the sony7506s to the thread creator, and only the 7506s NO OTHER SONY HEADPHONES SHOULD EVER BE PURCHASED.

yeah for sure, but I mean the 900s are 7506s, and the 7509 is discontinued I beleive, they can still be found here and there though. They were fairly similar to the 7506s anyways.

no, the px200s are gonna be the portables. isolation would be good but not need. i just need an asskickin set for edm. all that soundstage mumbo jumbo is greek to me. i tried out the senn hd650 or whichever ones are handmade, pretty cool but i dont have that kind of scratch lying around. no amp.

sennheiser hd-497 is what i would recommend first. great deep bass, very clear, and natural for "cheap" headphones. those are 50 bux at the rightplace.

i am also a big fan of earbuds... etymotic er-6i is what i woudl recommend but they may not be bassy enough. personally they are too much for me, i use the er-4s. i dont listen to bass in edm.

you will also like the sennheiser hd-25 but they are expencive, and uncomfortable for people wiht big ears. you also would need an amp for best results. i use those for djing.

hd-280 will not have enough bass for you

grados have bass but for me its more punchy ... hd-497 will deliver punch and plenty of deep end bass that you want

if soundstage is mumbojumbo to you, i would suggest that you stay below 100 dollars. especially after that, you will probably need an amp to realize the full potential of the headphones.
