Decent ~$150 headphones in oz?
Hey folks. I've got a mate who wants to get a decent set of headphones for mixing/production/djing/etc and wants to spend $125-$150. Normally I'd steer him towards a set of Sony MDR7506/V6s but it doesnt appear that they're available here in .au - am i missing something (as happens often)? Any other suggestions for similar cans in a similar price range? in melb if that matters.

VW stock them normally, but they ran out of stock. send email/PM
to your local VW associates and im sure they can get you sorted in no time.
good luck.
the V6 are awesome. same league as HD25 i must say.

Go to a Retravision store and purchase some Philips - SBC HP890s. They're huge and open-air, but they sound like sex. When I bought them they were on special for $120, but I think they retail for $150.
Take it easy on the headband, myn broke and I had to send it back for a replacement. (I also dropped it a few times)

excellent re VW - will fire em off an email now. yeah ive had my 7506s (same same) since '93, have consistently abused them and they still sound great despite looking like they were just pulled off the seabed next to the titanic.

I got my stanton dj pro 3000s for $160 cash in Perth, but theyve cracked badly already after 1 month of use. Theres cheaper stantons as well for like $120-150 the ones tiesto was using for a while.

i picked up a pair of technics 1210s for $130 off ebay.
very stoked when they actually turned up, but in the end it saved me paying $280 for them at central station.
Damn dude, $130 brand new? How do you find the swivel on them ... can you still do one-ear shoulder monitoring with their forward/back swiveeling action?

yup, still sealed in the box
they are the shiznit.
yeah the swivel is good - just drop one can behind my head and use the other to monitor with, works a treat and theres a lock on it so its not sliding all over the shop.. comfy as hell too
