Trance is pretty quiet right now in the UK but is still much bigger than in the US, I'm not sure about Europe though. EDM in general is massive though- dance music was number 1 for 10 weeks in 2004, and there were dance albums in the charts almost constantly.

Man, that is the best description of a good trance set I ever heard...

Trance is still massive in the UK even though it might not be on par with past times. Events are still as popular as ever, and lots more club nights and weekly events are appearing and getting sold out. The likes of Gatecrasher and Godskitchen might not be at the forefront as they once were, but Crasher events are still popping up and Godskitchen has a successful weeknight at Air. The likes of Passion and Heaven have also taken off too.

But then the Trance genre has a lot to compete with in the UK. Second only to the USA in producing Pop/Rock/RnB music, its always going to be hard to maintain a footing in the Trance world. Mainland Europe doesnt have such a predominent own-language music industry and relies on US/UK imports, so its easier for Trance and other forms of EDM to reach out in places like the Netherlands.

It's really up to the individual countries, it's like each on of them has it's mainstream and they're mostly different.
So it really depends where you go.
I mean it's great to be a trancer in UK/Holland maybe Spain, but for the rest it's shit.
Such huge countries like France, Italy, Germany and others are fairly small if you consider all the parties that go on elsewhere.
What trance would need is huge exposure, like MTV for example, but it's not going to happen, I guess people that run it belive rap sells better, and EDM liking people wouldn't like that cause it would commercialize things.
It's better than in USA, but also more centralised to certain areas.
