Timelessness
I slowly opened the door to a wave of billowing white fog. I could hear rushing water in the distance and feel the damp heat on my skin. Other than that...it was as if my senses had been flicked off for the time being, like a test from almighty God to see how well a human could function under these conditions. I stumbled towards the sound of water, arms outstretched, fingers desperately reaching for substantiality in that hellish fog. The smooth sliding of a slick sheet slipped through my fingertips. I thought to myself how good that line would be in a poem. My fingers desperately sought an edge, hands moving like a blind tailor taking measurements for a wedding dress. an edge! I flicked the heavy hanging sheet to the side jumping past with a yell. Hot water slammed into my head like Jasons girlfriend peeing on him. Slapping a hand out to the side I grabbed the shampoo bottle only to have it almost fall from my hands!
The cap was almost undone...the Shampoo Gnomes had been here again. The third time in as many mornings. I began to get cold despite the heat of the water...when would their mischeivous devilry turn malicious...how could such a creature have any sense of morality or understanding of human weakness and frailty?
I slowly turned the water off, listening to the last drips gurgle down the drain, and wept. The gnomes would be back. There was nothing I could do about it.
