How's it going...

Sorry about posting yet another thread about mixers but i just want your opinions on the mixers i'm looking at.

At the moment it's between the Gemini PS 626i and it's bigger brother the PS 676i..

I'm just wondering whether the extra money is worth it? Or is the 676 just a mixer with a few more gimics (fantsy pants extras which aren't needed?)

Any info would be great, i have to order them by the end of the weekend though so your input is much appreciated.

i say go for 626 cuz its obvious ur looking for a beginner mixer and usually mixers in this range with extra crap, the extra crap doesnt seem to work too well, i.e. behringer djx700, so i say wats the point in the more expensive gemini... id say get the 626 cuz the other ones extra crap will probably leave u disapointed in its overall quality of the extra crap, but i also have no experience with either mixer, but im sure people will post that have used them

I've basically got a £140 budget, that's my max. So i'm not sure if there's even a better mixer out there for that price. But i've been told by quite a few people (and from reading on here) that the 626 is a good mixer.

And well, a friend said he wanted to help me get a better mixer so was willing to pay the extra 40 odd quid to get something nicer.

So yeh i just want to know whether or not i should save my money or buy a different mixer all together.

well u always have that big debate of get great equipment now instead of buying lesser quality equipment, cuz if u buy the lesser quality equipment, ull without a doubt be upgrading, but then again, this lifestyle mite not be for you.... me personally, i took no chances and bought a xone 92 as my first mixer, granted i was usin my friends djm600 for a year... i did see good reviews in magazines of both of those geminis, im lookin at the 626, and i think you'll be fine with this mixer, if ne thing, do a search in this forum, all the forums on this site are filled with tons upon tons of great information, this website is just overall amazing for people like us

when i said this lifestyle may or may not be for you like a jackass i didnt finish that sentence, wat i was trying to say was if u buy the mixer and a few months down the road decide djing isnt for you u wont be kicking yourself cuz u only spent a small amount of cash

ne how i just searched myself, i see good reviews for the 626, ive even heard the word "great" used to describe it, which isnt something u normally hear about a mixer in that price range

For beginner mixers, the 626 is the best mixer you can get, I've used its bigger brother 676 before, its a good mixer for the price, you should save yourself some cash and get the 626, the 676 is the same but with a sampler on board, it would be fun at first but you would soon get bored of it as its a pretty crappy sampler, so go for the 626 and but the saved money towards more vinyl.

ps, i know what you mean about the 'trying out djing phase' And i am aware about buying a cheaper mixer and down the road spending even more money on another one.

I've taken that advice on board actually since the beginning (about buying better equipment) so i've actually got a set of 1210's Mk3 decks, but money is tighter now and while i shouldn't be tight on the mixer i just want to practise at this stage (1 month after buying the decks)

worried about not getting the sampler on a 676? in that price range it will be a shit sampler and from danny's experience it is so id go along with that.

if you get yourself a solid pair of decks and a dedicated mixer you can always add a dedicated sampler at a later date. particularly if you use a PC or mac in conjunction with your setup cuz then you can use software samplers like kontakt and never have to think about buying a sampler again. nothing breaks down. no mechanical parts to fuck up. unlimited memory. no limit to the length of the sample.

yea like derivative said ur probably better off adding a sampler if u want it that badly, quality of it will be better

Good idea.. well i've got the decks, the mixer seems alright to start off on. And now i'll wait till i improve and see if i even want a sampler of any kind

Like Derivative said, if you want a sampler either use a pc/mac or get a dedicated sampler, even the samplers on higher end mixers are good, but the sampler on the 676 well its easy to use, but it sounds like ass when you play something back, its like playing back a 96k mp3, and its pitch control isn't the most accurate.
