Question Mp3's to the same volume level?

Hi!

I was wondering is there any way to convert all my mp3's to the same volume? Any programs or anything? I have lots of mp3s with different volume levels, its annoying.

btw, first post from me,

If you're listenig to your mp3's through Winamp then I suggest you get a plugin called Audiostocker. Basically it acts as an equaliser so you'll get approx equal volume output for each track. You'll find it somewhere on the Winamp site. It works really well , you'll never have to change the volume on winamp ever again !!!

Only trouble is, you will lose a fair bit of quality by converting them back to mp3. There is actually no way of normalizing mp3s without losing quality, the only thing you can do is turn up the volume

I was just about to say there, when you are ripping from like a dj friendly cd, always make sure you check the normalisation option.
That way, all the tracks will be at the same levels.

Winamp has auto equalization settings as well. you can set the preamp to move to a certain spot everytime you play a certain mp3.
and when you use the wav output function of winamp, it does include the effects of the equalizer and preamp.
you do lose quality converting to wav and back though.

it would be nice if all my mp3s were the same volume, it's a pain in the ass for mixing with VTT when one is way louder, especially because VTT doesn't have gain, only volume sliders..

oh well, guess I need to buy a mixer and turntables darn!

Thank you all!

Well maybe I try and play with winamp some more... there is always a plug-in for everything. just didn't find the Audiostocker plug-in that Stanza suggested... damn you Winamp search system!
see ya!
