I think that thing was something you put onto a cd to protect it. The commercial as I remember it was the hitchhiker throwing the truckers cd out the window after it starts skipping, and then putting his protected cd into the slot which happened to be the same cd. There's also the cd doctor to repair scratches but I don't know if that works on burned cds. I think there was a thread about this a while back, the question being if these would be safe to put into a slot loading CDJ and risking that investment.

Thats just a thin layer of plastic the covers the cd, juz sticky tape some gladrap on if ur confident enough lol... actualy thats probly not very safe but if your cds are scratched i know that in my area nearly all the video stores have a special machine that cuts a very thin layer off the cd, works lyk a charm

The CD doctor works well.....if you its skipping in your car than I suggest you get a new pair of cushy shocks for your ride
they have this new product out (i think that's the commercial you're referring to)
it's a layer of plastic you put on the disc to protect it, when it gets scratched you simply remove the scratched plastic then put another one on
i don't think it'll fix scratches already on the disc, just protect it from getting new ones
