Dunno slipmats not slipping...?

ok, so I was playing out at this bar / lounge place on Friday...started my set, everything was going fine. the place has technics, I threw on my own slipmats. So, like an hour into my set, I go to put a record on the right TT and all of a sudden, when I back cue, the platter stops...like the slipmats weren't slipping like they normally do. It was really really annoying and I had to start using cds to avaoid using that TT. Then the left one started up and I found myself having to actually lift the edge of the record off the platter slighty to back cue and such. I was thinking it could have been the moisture in the air or something. Anyone know whats up...?

If the hole is ever too big, get a piece(or two if necessary) of masking tape, and tape it over the holes and then punch the hole through with something leaving the tape on. It works pretty good.

I don't think it had anything to do with the hole being too small....this was happening to almost every record I put on...

so just ordinary wax paper will work? Thanks.

i got a problem similar to this occasionally but sumtimes mine gets so bad that when i lift the record off the tt the slipmat comes with it. i think theres a build up of static or summat but ive checked my groundings and they seem fine. could this static harm anything? (cept my ability to cue up)

Thats really weird, I've never even heard of this, I've had the slipmat stick to the record, but not stop me from cueing up, does anyone know the real course of this?

its happened to me before. there was alot of moisture in the air (fog machines, over crowded place with poor ventilation) and a few times the mat stuck to the platter. i didnt a roll of wax paper with me, so i took one of the white paper record sleeves, poked a hole in it and put it between the mat and platter. worked fine the rest of the night

razzi.

plastic bags work good too. just cut a circular piece the size of your mat, hole in the center, and all is good. it'd be smart to keep 2 or 3 of these, or wax papers in your recorc case, for when stuff happens.
