I doubt you can help the guy if you don't even know what pads are.
Pads are synthesizer sounds that are long, and usually have a sweeping sound. Think about strings and the likes. You use pads for chord progression (i e not for melody or rhythm).
I don't have too much experience with reason myself so I can't answer your question either. I guess you could try layering some synth sounds with low filter LFO's. For warm sounds cut-off high frequencies.

Just use the substractor synth, and load a pad out the pad map, simple isn't it?

whenever i load a pad into the subtractor, all the notes keep layering on top of each other and get lowder and lowder...

you probably have the amp release up too high, last slider in the ADSR envelope controls. if its not that then make sure that the notes of one chord stop when the notes of the next begin, so that the key off for one is right at the key on for the second. for more reason help than you could ever need, go here and ask:
if u have a keyboard connected to reason u can load your pads in a sampler (that light blue devide, NN19 or something, forgot the name) and u cna play them on the keyboard.....couse when u loaded the pads in the subtractor matrix might have messed it up if it was connected to subtractor.....
