Mac Producers: Where should I begin?

Hey Everyone -

I've been DJ'ing since I was 13 (Now 22) and I am now seriously interested in doing my own production/remixing on a professional scale (Until now I've used relatively cheap software).

I am a Mac user, so this does limit me quite a bit in the "free/share-ware" market, I've used Jezkala Buzz on PC for a while and really like it.

I'm unsure about spending the money to pick up a copy of Cubase or Reason, but I am most definitely in a good position to purchase some of the higher end software (University Discount), so do any of you have any advice for me on where/which programs to begin with?

Apologies in advance for the Noob-Prod question,

Cheers,

RJT

Yeah just fiddle around some with demos of Cubase, Reason and Logic and see what you like the best.

Protools logic and cubase are what you have on mac.... Cubase is utter shit and is not efficient in anyway.... I recomend logic as you can get it for 500 bucks and it has some very very nice synths and effects.......

Cubase is NOT utter shit. The new logic has more problems than cubase does. Just try both.. see what works best on your setup.

dude i work on logic day in day out.. I also work on protools systems often... and yes cubase on mac is utter shit.... Use plugins in cubase then run the same plugins in logic.. See what is more efficient... Not to mention how unstable it is with large projects...

i'm not using either logic or cubase....
but what give's you the right to say that cubase it "utter shit" when yuo work in logic day in and day out???

it's just as i would say that reason suck's ass becaus i think that fruity is much better caus i work in it all day long (not really.. but you get the point).
since i don't use reason i can't tell since i'm not using it as i'm using fruity.. pretty simple and logical....

but as i said.. try out for yourself.. don't really listen to what anyone else think's... it's all up to you and what you like.

I was reference to the fact the logic is stable and cubase is not... I guess you are not understanding me.... Cubase on mac is very unstable and since the last update on logic it has become rock solid....

I went from reason, to cubase, now to Logic and Ableton Live 4. I'm happy and yes since the new update 7.0.1 it's solid without a doubt!
