Iran publically torture and execute child murderer.
I was reading my local newspaper today and found an artical on this, although the extract below is from the New York Times.
PAKDASHT, Iran, March 16 - Angry relatives of victims of a serial child killer cheered, whistled and clapped as he was publicly flogged, stabbed, slapped and finally hanged Wednesday.
About 3,000 people gathered in the main square of Pakdasht, south of Tehran, to see the execution of Muhammad Bijeh, an Iranian who was convicted of kidnapping, raping and murdering 21 people, most of them boys.
Handcuffed and shirtless, Mr. Bijeh was first lashed 100 times by judiciary officials using electrical cables before the brother of one of his victims lunged from the crowd and stabbed him in the back, drawing blood. The police pulled the attacker away.
Mr. Bijeh, who, with an accomplice, was called a "Vampire of the Tehran Desert" in the Iranian news media, sank to his knees after the stabbing but remained silent.
The mother of another boy Mr. Bijeh had killed then slapped his face several times and cursed him while putting a blue nylon rope noose around his neck.
To cries of "God is great" and "Make him spin so he will suffer more," Mr. Bijeh was lifted high into the air from a crane, dying the slow death by strangulation that is usual in public executions in Iran.
"I could not recognize my son after what this murderer did to him," the sobbing mother of another victim said.
Mr. Bijeh was arrested in September and sentenced to death in October on charges of kidnap, rape and murder. The accomplice, Ali Baghi, was sentenced to 15 years.
The killings began more than two years ago but did not come to light for a long time because most of the victims came from families of illegal Afghan refugees who were afraid to report their children were missing.
I had pictures in my newspaper of the man bound to a wooden stake while being flogged with people behind cheering, also being stabbed, and being winched up by the crane, and then dying and his body being carted away.
talk about rough justice. Although if he did do what hes reported to have done, its probably deserved.
