Question

Ok. With all this n00b flaming as of late, I have to ask a question to the "non-n00bs" IE. fastmp3, Krinker, Malek, etc....WHAT is it exactly you have against all forms of trance music? And I mean other than the obvious...the idiotic EX-freaks making fools of themselves, the cheesy dreamy meaningless vocals, the boring ass AVB style non-driving beats. I hate these things too...but I still like trance. Because yes, these things are a large part of trance, and a shitty part of trance. But people like Christopher Lawrence, Chris Liebing, Blank and Jones, Ferry Corsten and dare I say it...even non-cheesy Tiesto is good!

So what exactly makes you guys such House-heads and such haters of trance?

Before everyone gets into flaming mode, let's try our best to have a civilized conversation. Because I really do want to understand your point of view, just to satisfy my own personal curiosity if nothing else....

i don't hate trance, i'm listening to ISO4 at this moment.

I just hate all this n00bism surrounding it, the close minded people who listen to it (same could be said to house heads), the TIESTO #1 FOREVER crap, the PLUR, the Rave and other idiotic terms.

I guess I;m a noob so i shouldn't post but wtvr. One thing is I like all those djs you just listed. However, the djs I listen to on a day to day basis are are not big djs like those. I love stuff like corentin emprou, dj metatron....lots of "amateur" djs. I like more trance and ambient music, and acid jazz type stuff. However when it comes to dancing to at an afterhours or wtvr, I like those big names, big beats, and anthemic vocals. If thats makes me a noob than thats fine, I just think people are thinking if someone enjoys some mainstream trance they're a noob. Alot of stuff I listen to the "veteren ta's" may not of even heard of.
God I;m tired no doubt non of this made sense.

n00b isn't a bad thing anyway, we all started like that. Its better than being a punk or a thug

its the first step in your Electronic Dance Music studies and enjoyment.

Is there such thing as "mainstream" trance? I mean, sure there are the Top 100 DJ's, but that doesn't make them mainstream does it?

I have a lot more to say, but I want to read some more replies to this first.

and just because someone's a noob to the site doesn't mean they are a noob to the scene.

You know what i think it is LiGHT?

When i started off with the edm style, it was with a VA compil, Trance Voices Vol 8. Now THAT was real cheese, scooter, dj sammy, luna, vengaboys, and all other cheese, which was GREAT cheese to my ears.

Thats when i told myself "techno is good".

Then along came some rank 1 i believe and this site, and i found out i liked trance.

Now, style and tastes progress, i cant listen to Scooter the same way as i did summer of '03 when Maria (I Like it Loud!) was a popular hit, instead now i just put on some Jose Amnesia and just chill.

These guys have no doubt listened to this stuff for years and years, so tastes progress. Im positive though that they still have an Aqua or Mc Mario Mixdown (94? 95?) cd in their cars on some days:P

"Mainstream" or cheese... same thing I think... its made for the masses I find.... thats my opinion on part of what u said.

The top 100 djs arent really mainstream other then certain key ones... Tiesto.... Ferry.... Deep Dish... DJ Sammy.... Milk Inc.... (because i heard them on the shittest radio station) here in Montreal (95.9).... Deep Dish doesnt have alot of tunes... yet Ferry does... and they chose to air Rock Your Body Rock.... Motorcycle somewhat mainstream.... because of the hype they got from ATRC

I guess I'm a noob to electronic DANCE music. Only been into it for a little over a year now. However electronic music is what I've been into ever since I got into music, with some other stuff on the side. Including a new thing for classical music.

I'd add Oakenfold to the list of mainstreamers.

would it not be made for the masses because... the masses LIKE it? I mean, like I said, I've got a HUGE range (though I am a sucker for vocal and hardstyle, but even they are at different ends of the spectrum), but what is so wrong with Rock Your Body Rock? Due to the fact that trance is NOT mainstream, the Top 100 guys are the only thing many ppl know of. At least it's getting more exposure than it use to.

I feel as though I am defending my friends here, lol. The poor girls LOVE trance, cheese and non-cheese, but how many chicks do you know who go out of their way to find music?

ps: SWIRL WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!
