Yes it is, the cdj800 was designed to have a lighter platter, and be closer to the true vinyl function. This the reason so many turntablists prefer to use the 800.
One of the ways they tried to make it more like vinyl is by making it so that it just keeps playing the whole cd (record) through, unless you stop it.
That 2 second pause you speak of is not the cdj, its the cd, which you burned with spaces in between tracks.
Obviously a cdj is in no way like vinyl, but regardless theres no way to my knowledge to prevent the next track from starting automatically.
Just press pause/cue.

Those would be cdj1000s or cdj1000mk11.
