12" g4 1.5Ghz powerbook laptop for music stuff..

I am looking into buying a 12" g4 1.5Ghz/768MB powerbook to run audiodesk2.0/Digital performer. What I mainly want to do is re-sample analog audio through a Motu 828mk2. I will only be recording 2-channels at a time.

My question is for the folks that use 1.5Ghz g4 powerbooks to do their recording, audio editting, and digital effects plugins...
-I want to know what their opinion is on using such a laptop for the listed work?
-Does the laptop process the effects slowly on the .wav file, or are they pretty fast with the 1.5ghz processor?

also, I was wondering if I would be able to use 'Pro Tools' on the G4 laptop with my Motu 828 mk2? I was unsure since i do not have any Digi hardware. Has anyone tried running 'Pro Tools' on a Mac without Digi hardware?

Any responses are appreciated.

well that kind of thing is also depends on your ram
generally if your buying a laptop, always buy the max amount of ram you can afford

also external sound card would be nice

dunno, i dont really recommend to produce on laptop anyways, i have 3.2 1gig 128 video and audigy sound card, works great, but sometimes i feel like its not enough
so dunno, up to you

i had an sony vaio 2.6 ghz p4 with 1gb ram....and i can tell you that your job will be limited if you work with a lot of plugins.my procesor was 2.6 but as everyody know all the laptops procesors runs at half at their speed,so.....an powercore compact will be the right choice for you because all 12 plugins are powered by two 150 MHz Motorola DSPs and one 266 MHz PowerPC.
PROTOOLS is not working without a digi mbox,001,002 or a digi hd tdm hardware ....that a fact...(a sad one).
