Question

Tomorrow I'm receiving my new cd rewriter and will have to fit it myself. Do I need to take any precautions so as not to damage my files stored on my hard drive?
Anti-static? What's that all about?

Advice please,

Tich

I'd say getting someone who has done these types of things before to install it would be a good precaution
Seriously, I think the best way to learn how to do it right (and avoid any sort of problems, like not having the computer recognize it, etc...) is to watch someone else do it. Ahh, back in the day when putting in a PCI card was beyond me.....
But seriously, just make sure you're touching something grounded (the computer case is a good bet) whenever you're touching any static sensitive parts (ie. anything in the computer ) And don't drop the hard drive, otherwise it should be fine! :P

Don't worry, it's very easy!! Believe me, I don't know much about computers (especially not about whats inside them!) but I managed to fit in a cd-writer by myself... and it wasn't very hard!!
The only problem for me was that there wasn't much space in my computer so it was difficult to plug al the wires... 2 minutes extra work, so what!!!

Succes
