Red face Seventies hard rock

Ok, going on to a completely different direction now...

My friend asked me to put together a compilation of some seventies rock/hard rock/heavy metal stuff and I'm not really sure what to put there. Anyone have any suggestions? I've put down all the obvious choices (Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Slade etc.) but I still need more stuff.

(I wonder whether anyone's even heard of such stuff here )

Metal was late 70s/early 80s I believe. No offense, but I don't think the stuff you listed, except for maybe Aerosmith, is the kind of rock/hard rock he's looking for.

Check out some stuff by Van Halen on top of the Zeppelin I recommended early, Mr. Mystery.

Deep Purple - Highway Star
Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water
Deep Purple - Burn ...actually check out their greatest hits, a lot of their stuff is pretty hard (the whole Machine Head album is pretty good)

Led Zeppelin - Black Dog
Led Zeppelin - Rock 'N Roll
Rush - 2112
Rush - Tom Sawyer
Rush - Finding My Way (check out their Chronicles double CD, it has their greatest hits, it's got some good stuff)

AC\DC started in the 70's, listen to some of their music.

How anyone can label Led Zep as even close to Metal has surel never heard Metal...i barely call Led Zep "Hard" Rock....Rock YES...but Hard?

And someone mentioned the Ramones...they arent Hard Rock or Metal..they are Punk all the way.....

If you are simply looking for the top ROCK bands of the seventies..well here is the only list u need...

Pink Floyd
Led Zep
10 Years After
Emerson Lake and Palmer aka ELP
The Rolling Stones
The Eagles

Everything else was shit cheese radio bands who had one hit wonders (maybe 2).

and i am surprised no one has mentioned KISS

Yeah, the tracks don't necessarily need to be hard rock as such, just no pop crap or anything.

And I'd count KISS to the cheese section personally but that's just me...
