The NW-E507 is coming out soon which is 1GB + FM tuner but at $279 that is a major ripoff - it's the same style as the NWE40x players.

This is the new Sony gizmo - direct competitor to the iPod. I was reading a nice little coverage in the British GQ about iPod and it's competitors. Basically they all said that th iPod is still king but this little thing was high up there...
also actually one of the first Sony players that actually uses the MP3 format rather than transfer the MP3s into an annoying Sony format which is nice!

Far superior to an Ipod mini IMO

Well you can't dispute that in terms of DESIGN and STYLE iPod is king...nothing even comes close. The guy that designed it won so many awards for it...
All the other MP3 players look horrible, they were designed by techeads and look really geeky. Apple actually uses industrial designers for their products. In fact all Apple products in terms of design are far superior to any of the others. Well Sony actually does OK job in design but I'll still take Apple design over Sony's any day

Yea, i'm willing to agree that the IPOD's "style" is better than that of the sony version. But the design/engineering of Sony's products is much better (longer battery life - my model gets 70 hours on one AAA battery- and better reliability)

Okay that's fair battery life is not the best on the iPod. Even though, they are increasing it with the new versions.
