Yea fuck the COR. Most of time your carefully crafted sarcasm and double entendres go completely unnoticed anyway. It seems like people over there need to be bludgeoned with ludicrosity before they finally get it. And of course there's always those people who NEVER get it and you ask yourself: how have you managed to survive so far in life? Hey Lira, why don't you sticky a political chill out thread for the polit forum? You can make room by unstickying my economics threads because let's be honest, I'm far too lazy/busy to maintain those . Some posts may be slightly political yet chill at time such that it doesn't need its own thread in the polit forum. One example is MisterOpus's post above. Another example is this:
Instead of my usual forays to the bars where I buy girls, who pretend to be interested in me, overpriced drinks, I decided to attend a lecture tonight (well technically last night). The lecture speaker was Gene Kranz who was NASA's flight director for the gemini, mercury, apollo, and early shuttle missions. If you've seen Apollo 13, he was played by Ed Harris. Anyway his speech was awesome. He basically described the type of atmosphere NASA was like back then and related personal experiences and impressions during the Apollo 13 crisis. It's as if you read all this stuff about WW2 and when you sit down with an actual WW2 veteran, he punctuates everything you read about with personal experiences and minute details that enhances the overall story. He then basically gave a motivational speech detailing what it took to be a leader, the qualities that made NASA so successful back then, and a million other points that you wanted to jot down because you knew that he knew what he was talking about.
To top the whole thing off, Senator John Glenn gave the introduction which just made my day. The guy just looks so old as he was walking up to the podium that I felt sorry for him. Then he started speaking and I was blown away. He's extremely eloquent, intelligent, affable, sharp as a tack, and very witty/funny. A great speaker in every regard. Then and there, I knew exactly why he was a senator. Anyway it was a crapload of fun to be among the presence of those who I actually consider heroes. Now I'm just drunk and happy I decided to ditch the bars tonight .
Anyway sorry to go offtopic from your post MisterOpus. But this seems to be like a drunk rambling thread so what the hell.
I would go hug my republican roomate but he's asleep and snoring right now. I drink with him anyway so he's not missing much .

I'm too much of a fukingg elitisst to post in the fucking COR when I'm a bit on the tipsy side, so I'll make my little post here. Besidess, I have a quick story that mighte be relatedto politids. So here goes...
My brother in law - a hardcore Republican met us up with a friend of his, another hard core republican. Okay, long story shoty, I had a fucking blast with em. So did the Mrs. tooo, even though she shares major differences with her brother.
Bottom line again - I think I've always been able to partyu best with folks that have differing views. If you haven't quite done this yet, goo trie.
Conservaatives, hug a Liberal and drink him under the table.
Liberals, first huug a tree, then go hug a Conservaitve. Then go have a toke with 'em. Most of 'em smoke a buttload of doob anywayy.
Okay, Im done. Good night folks..... |
I tell ya what, I'll meet ya half way...
...if I see a conservative on the other side of the road on fire, then I will piss on him!
