Midi isn't sound, so you can't record "midi sound" to audio. What you do is control sound(a synth perhaps) via a Midi controller, and then record the midi data(notes in this case) into your sequencer(fruity loops). Usually there's some kind of "quantize notes during recording" button, that will automatically snap the notes you play via midi to the note grid. However, some notes may be longer then others so you'll have to edit them.

Don't edit sound files that have out of tempo notes/notes that are too long etc in soundforge. You need to fix all that in your sequencer.

use the fruity LSD on the master fx channel it turns the midi in to wave forms then export what ever you like wav or mp3

So will I be able to draw a melody in the piano roll,
create a nice sound from my synth,
then turn this midi melody into audio (so I can export the final tune to wave) using the fruity LSD??? without even recording?

if your midi port is 0 then set the port to 0 in fruity LSD and then the midi signals will be passing through the Fruity LSD the sound will remain same i mean your melody will sound like a piano like in the midi keyboards if the midi out`s patch is #1 (Acoustic Grand Piano)it just transforms the midi signals in wave form so you can export the midi instrmuents in your compositions

Lots of people seem to get confused between midi and audio.

Midi conatins no sound. All midi is, is controller data to controll things, usually a hardware synth, drum machine or sampler.... that kind of thing.

Software insturments can usually take a midi input to play them (.i.e. you can use an external midi keyboard to play a soft synth in logic. The sound doesn't come form the external keyboard, or the midi data, but from the softsynth. Its the MIDI data that comes from the external keyboard or midi file that controlls the synth telling it which notes to play, what velocity etc....

Midi can be used for other stuff too ( I used it to controll a very basic robot years ago at school, using a sinclair 48k spectrum, and a midi interface)

So, in a nutshell, you can't turn your midi data directly into an audio file as there is no audio in the midi signal. You can however use the midi data to control a synth to interpret the midi signal into sound.
