Need help recording my mix

I've got soundforge now, and I tried recording my mix about 30 min ago and when I played it the quality sounded like 50kbs instead of like 128 standard.

Has anyone else ever had this problem, how can I increase the sound quality of my mix ?

Not to mention I can also hear things in the mix I'm doing, for example if I touch the computer or the desk a bit hard it'll make a bang sound in the mix, it sounds as if I've put a tape recorder in my room where you can hear anything in the room at bad quality.........................suggestions

Also before when I clicked record it had some kind of sound metre where what ever sound it produces it would show on the db metre or sumthin in green now it's just grey with nothing happening and there is now blue curver lines whilst recording. Not sure what I clicked now.

Probably you used the microphone for recording? Check that out and if so, use the "Line-in" ^^

Yep, it was in mic line :P thats fixed, now theres a slight humming sound in my mix, which is noticable in the breakdwons with justs trings or a piano lead for example. Can Sound forge fix this problem, it could it be my soundcard ?

Try using a ground loop isolator between your mixer and your computer. In Canada, Radio Shack sells them for about CAN$20. It's basically a stereo audio RCA patch cable with an inline isolation transformer, and comes with a 1/8" stereo phone plug adapter. It may not eliminate the humming completely, but it should help reduce it. (Yeah, insert Radio Shack joke here:___)
