Just starting out

My computer is a half decent speed and I picked up a copy of Traktor just to mess around.

I suppose my problem is that I tend to have a bit of bad taste as far as what good/bad mixing is and whatnot and I really need tips on starting out.

I know this must have been posted but I searched for Traktor and a few other things and came up with nothing of consequence but I'll delete this if it's been asked a million times before.

This has been covered MANY times, I just ran the search for Traktor, and there are 7 pages of results. I'm sure you could find something...

Anyways, what are your specific questions?

My apologies, thanks for the reply though.

Just how to make a proper transition to the next song, how early to start the transition for a beginner, what to look for in building up a decent set (i know you have to build it up and have it die down a bit after a while), what makes a set good/bad other than track selection.

Basicaly just beginner stuff, a sort of "mixing for dummies"

actually, i have found, its useless to let it die down, and the later the night gets the harder the crowd wants it, in my experience.

end it with a bang.

oh and its all about track selectrion <---at least 50% of being a good dj.

what other tips can you give as far as when to mix the next song and whatnot? remember i'm just a beginner and have horrible taste in what constitutes good/bad mixing.

to be honest what I mainly want to do is just be able to mix some cds I burn so that it seams more like a set than seperate tracks.

you need to listen to tracks and find like elements in each track etc etc, you just need to listen to a lot of tunes, and really just practice, experiment and mix different tunes, just go nuts.

While you're at it, scoop up a copy of this book. It pretty much covers everything.
