Ok seeming as though i can get some of the best answers in the good old dj booth i have decided to post my latest question... Yes i ran a search but nothing told me enough specs...

Ok have been looking for a new set of tables for a while now and was about ->| this close |<- to getting a pair of stanton st.150's but it fell through. So the reason i havent gone out and brought them is of these reasons and further investigation, The wow and flutter issue... stantons are at .07/.08% while the techs measure at .01/.02%... (give or take, dont quote me) Is this a noticable difference when mixing or am i being a little girl? I have started to lean more the way of tech trance, 3 decks and bog loads of scraching so if i go carrying out long ass mixes with two tracks and i dont want them falling apart on me.

Also stantons have the high ajustable pitch levels which i do use also, so my delemma is the only techs i can get are mk5g's which are a bit more expensive than what i could get the stantons for... but are they worth the extra clams? By the way i only mix in my bedroom so any comments about "when you get out to clubs it will take some getting used to being on different decks" will be wasted on me.

So any tranceaddicts here that own a pair of 150's or have used both to compare and judge please give me your input, I don't really want this to turn into a slagging match or be filled up with posts reading "Technics are the only true wheels of steel"... I kinda want real answers and comparisons... what are they like in a very long mix? does the ballsy torque make up for the slightly higher wow and flutter?

Sorry if i just started another brand vs brand i didnt really want it to come to this but considering ive been to most dj stores in my local area and noone can give me a truly good answer i will ask good ol tranceaddict.

Maybe i should just get a pair of vestax.. agghh

ive mixed on st-150s. (not the straight tonearm) i quite liked them, you can do some fun scratching with all of that torque too. they seem to hold pitch very well, and i had no problems beatmatching on them and holding out minute long transitions. i ride the pitch alot in general (on any deck) since i only beatmatch for about 20-30 seconds, and the 150s were great for most trance mixing needs imo.

well here in holland a lot of people find that the "super OEMs"as thats what those series are called are generally better than technics.
Has more torque and it surpasses the tech with correcting. Plus they are cheaper. I can really recommend u getting the st-150. Or the Synq smx-1 or the Reloop RP-6000 as theyre technically the same table just different cosmetics.

The only reason I have Technics and not Vestax decks is because everywhere I'll have the opportunity to play out will have Technics, probably 10 year old MKIIs with the detent at 0.

Yeah thanks guys, I guess I may aswell go with the st-150's... I mean most people i talk too that have acctually used them (instead of just assuming there shit because there not techs) can't seem to find much fault with them... But if there is anyone here who can let me know if iam making the wrong decision speak up.

Anyway I can get the Stanton's over the technics and save well over $500. Just a concern with that wow and flutter issue even though its about a 0.01% difference between them and the vestax and i know there quality tables.

they r pricey but i saved for them because thats what i was aiming for.(i still go to school and had to work alot to save)

mostly mixing: trance, tech trance, techno, little breaks and prog

mate as long as it goes around with tourque you will be fine.

Stantons would live up to it definatly, they cant be that bad!

I bet you could find a pair of MKIIs in good condition for $500 if you look around. If the only reason you want the Stantons is to save money I'd go that route instead. Theres nothing wrong with Stantons or Vestax decks. I'll spit on those Numark decks though, but thats just because almost everyone I know who has bought a set has had one or both of them break within a year.

Hehe nah I am not big on Numarks, also I would only guess that the mk5g's would be treating you well considering they are what they are. Anyway the only one's that appeal to me are the 5g's because i use the ajustable pitch... I could get a pair of mk2's no worries if that was the case , Just shits me how all the local dj stores dont have a pair of 150's set up allowing one to mix with them. But is wow and flutter a real issue when its all this close together? or am i just being pedantic?

I just wouldnt want to regret it later because i wanted to save a dollar. But i guess the high torque would make up for it as long as it lasts as long.

i have the str8-100's and there definitely a long lasting, strong deck. im talking about the str8-100's, imagine the 150's.

Do the beats ever fall apart in long mixes with the 100's? i.e. playing to songs (once matched) at the same time and leaving them to play through?

the longest i ever played doing one mix was 1 and a half hours and it never happened once.

I have mixed out in Clubs on various different Technics and also in a home environment, and I have allways rated them as superb. That is until however I decided to listen to a couple of peoples advice and have a go on the Stanton ST 150's. After having seen the build quality and had a go on these decks I was amazed at how good they are. I have had a pair for about a year now (s shaped tone arm) and they are absolutely amazing. I have no issues what so ever with long mixes losing time, so personally i would say the wow and flutter is not at all noticeable. Like anything you will adjust to it any way within a couple of records.
