REVIEW: Ferry Corsten 4.20.05 The Quest, Minneapolis, MN
Well, after almost falling asleep at the wheel on the way home, I finally arrived back in SP at 7AM, and still made it to my ten O'Clock class! Time for a show review:
As far as the opening DJ's, first guy I didn't really pay much attention to, but holy shit did I dig DJ Jack Trash. Paying attention to 3 decks + an EFX 500 is probably more than I will ever be able to do at once in my life! I was really in the mood for some solid trance, but Jack Trash's ultra dark, dirty ass prog house really got me moving... plus he dropped like 2 or 3 tracks I threw at Addiction
It was nice to get to see both Dan and Tyler C (Going to try to make it to Madison on Saturday bro!) out again, albeit I only saw Dan for like a minute right before Ferry hit the decks, at which time 2.5 hours of nonstop dancing ensued... I'm glad the set got recorded, b/c as cheesy as this may look on paper, my favorite part of the night was right about 1:30 AM when Ferry proceeded to drop the following:
Right of Way > Punk > Rock Your Body, Rock > It's Time
It was like straight up all Ferry for a while, and now that I think about it, I really do remember him just throwing a ton of his remixes/productions all night...
Other highlights for me included Rachel Starr's "Til there was you" (G & D Club Mix) and also, of course, as cheesy as it gets, the Adagio for Strings encore rocked my socks...
In any event, I'm not thinking real well right now, so there's probably more, but I need some sleep.
Anyone who wishes to support the claim that pure Trance music is dead, hasn't seen Ferry Corsten recently...
Peace, Cheers,
RJT
