Hey guys, was going to save this one for about a month, but I figure I need some hype behind it before i get it out. Try it, let me know what you think if you have the time.

Infinityloop - Drifting into the sun(pre-release edit)

Hey Iloop,

Listened to your track and just want to give you my compliments. This is a really nice summerish track. I really enjoyed listening to it and the variation in the track is great.

When it comes to mastering and EQ'ing though one minor point: all the leading sounds are EQ'ed to high and the hi hats a bit as well. The middle frequencies in the song are not really there.

Furthermore I would personally pump up the volume of those lovely string pads in the background. To give the track just a bit more body.

But really overall, a really really nice track!

Cheers,

Nomen Nescio

Hey,
Listening, interesting sound in the begin, kinda sounds like a voice or sort of, Drums are fine, that kinda Kalimba is pretty cool also. Yum yum Pads, nice square but it has too much reverb imo, nice congas . I will have to agree with Nomen about the highs/Midles, but that's just a minor point the track itself is damn cool, good work mate .
PS.I love feedback more than cakes also *Cough cough* :P.
Kopi =o.

Nice relaxing track.

Got tons of variation, I like that scratch-like sound applied there, it blends well with the rest of the percussion set.

Nice melodies and pads, percussion set by the way, well worked, simple but solid.

Man I'm loving this track by the minute 5:33, what seems to be the main synth is great!!

My only complain is that somehow it sounds kind of empty, don't know if is because of what the members above mentioned.

Overall great job!!

Thanks for the feedback boys I am eating this up as I write...

really happy you dig the track. I will go back and take another look at the eq'ing. I just got Reason 3, and this one was done purely with 2.5 so I will get the ol-mclass out and giver a go....

mmm...I crave some more.

Keep it up my reason brother. Sounds very nice so far.

I'm digging the percs in the beginning. Not sure about the crazy voc sample, but it's neat. Your melody is also well done.

Man. This is cake.

- seems like too much reveerb on that lead at around 1:30
- some background strings sound almost dissonant with the melodies, maybe they just need to be more prominent to hear the full sound.
- cool breakbeat part ~ 4:25
- i like the melody that comes afterward
- overall, melodies are pretty good, but i'd use different synths
- throughout the track, the hats and percs seem to be driven down by the melodic elements, and it kind of takes away from the drive. same goes for the bass i think.
- after several listens, this track is growing on me melodically, but all those things i mentioned still need work IMO.
- also, strings should complement the meldoy, add atmosphere so to speak, and to this end they must comply with the melodies as far as key goes and strings here don't seem to do that. maybe its just me...

stop all this slating of cake!

cake's awesome

this tune's pretty cool (not quite cake in my book though), the percussion's something a bit different - like that a lot

not quite something i'd play but good luck with the release

Heh... yay for protools and the Waves plug in. There's tons of other great VST free compressors out there as well. Mastering is fun, but much better do to externally. I either use Protools or Acid 5 Pro.

You NEED digidesign hardware to run protools though, that is why i hate protools. otherwise it's great software. *pats his m-box*

eulerfx - thanks for the suggestions, i like when people take the time to put that much effort into a review. I did have different synths in there for the main melodies, but then descided to change them cause they didn't fit the mood. I'll take a look at other things you've mentioned.

Stu Cox- cake is awesome, thanks for listening in- glad you like one aspect of the track

DJFreaq- mm...digidesign- we have it at the university in the studio, but I rarely go in there cause im too busy studying at home and everyones using that studio at alll times, but i think i might go take advantage of it after my finals are done on monday
