In Search for a good 4 Channel Mixer!

Hi!

As I want to buy cdj's in the near future i need two more channels, so i thought i sell my numark dxm06 and buy a new 4 channel mixer which isn't too expensive (under 800$ - 650€ would be nice)

Can somebody give me some advice on these mixers?

- Ecler Smac 40 (this is the cheapest i found, only 500 €, doesn't have effects though, which would be nice but isn't that important)

- Numark 5000FX (550€, has 5 channels - i read a thread on the mixer on this forum, but a few more oppinions would be nice)

- Pioneer DJM 500 (630€ - lots of people have this mixer, but i read good and not so good reviews...i think it's a bit too expensive for the quality right?)

what do you think about these 3?
do you recommend any other mixer in this price range?

thank you in advance!

ps: i did a search but its difficult to search for 4 channel mixers when "4" isn't over 4 characters

I currently still rock the DJM 500, in fact I just replaced one that had a bit of an accident

Here's my take on the situation: They probably aren't worth what they're selling for new anymore, but if you can find a reasonable price on a used one, the DJM 500 is a stand up mixer. I love it, and I think in general it's pretty well accepted as a "quality" piece of material you're likely to find out at clubs to this day.

I've never played on the other two, so I don't know about them in comparison to the DJM, but I will say this, I'm not buying another mixer until I can afford an A&H X92...

Hopefully that helped a bit, Chers,

RJT

thanks mate, it helped :-)

i also thought in getting a used djm500 or 600 at ebay...the prices are allright...and if you say they are quality and last long (i don't wanna buy a mixer in the near future after that one - maybe i'll save for the x92 too when i finished university ) i maybe bid on one!

Yeha man, they're most definitely quality, and for years they were pretty much the club standard, which isn't to say bigger and better things haven't come out since then, but if you're looking for something nice to last you a while, a good condition, slightly used DJM 500 should definitely do you right...

Hope it all works out for you M8, happy mixing down under!

Cheers,

RJT

Have you looked at the Denon DNX-1500?
Dunno what the prices are like there, but here they are cheaper than the DJM-600 and (much much cheaper than) 5000FX

yeah, we don't have koala bears

i looked at the denon, but here it's the other way around

the numark is the cheapest with 550 euros and the denon is nearly as expensive as the djm 600 (the denon is 750 and the pioneer is 800)

I would recommend you take a look around more, newer 4 channel mixers on ebay. Did yo try looking for the DNX on ebay? I mean the Pioneer is all around a fine mixer, i cant say it isnt but there ofcourse is better things now. Im not saying you should go overboard with what youre getting but if this is just for bedroom dj'ing then the 500 will do the job. I ownt he 1500, i love the thing.

I used to own the DJM 500 myself and I think its a quality mixer. The whole feel of it is nice - nice EQ's on it and I like the feel of the faders. Makes for some precise mixing once you get used to it.

But I think you could pick up an Allen & Heath xone 62 off ebay for a similar price as the djm 500/600... thats if your looking for a mixer with amazing sound quality. I personally think the Ecler mixers are priced to high as the output quality lacks a bit. Comparing Pioneer and Ecler I would go for the pio because there both on the same level in terms of output quality (except Ecler's mixers being priced much higher)

I own a xone 92 and can safely say that the xone 62 is very similar to mix on. Plus the fact it has 6 channels and 2 high quality A&H analogue filters on it.

As for Denon... I have no idea what they are like, never had a mix on one

here in austria it's quite the opposite! the ecler smac 40 costs 500 euros brand new and a djm500/600 is 630/800 new!

for that price, which one would you choose mate?
