true, you COULD get a real synth...but it for that price it would have squat in features compared to it. Software has come along way in the last few years...and i think eventually it will surpase hardware in terms of desirability for the 'semi-pro' musician. With a midi controller, it will always be good, your computer is your storage sancuary for whatever you need and whatever will come out in the future. if the sounds in a synth get outdated, they're done.
I'm very happy with the current vst's and sample libraries available these days, and want a controller that can use them to their full extent!
to avoid any sort of flame war though, i think hardware is great, and everything is hands on, but with a controller like this, it makes the vst/sample library completely hands on, especially with the added transport buttons to use in cubase etc.
