not the best advice I know...but I'm in the same boat.

Once you're over the three-day hump, you should be okay. Just keep yourself busy, and don't let your mind wander back to the relaxing bliss smokes provide you
I tried quitting, four days without a smoke, then finals rolled around and I said screw it :P

Good luck though

A girl friend and I came up with the idea that everytime we feel like a cig...we make tea and drink that instead. Its working pretty good since neither of us has had a cig in almost two weeks.

I smoke during exam periods. Other than that i keep myself busy and keep spending money on other stuff so i cant possible afford ciggies.

Anyways, i'm not addicted to it, just helps me through stressful times.

all i know is once you get over the first week, the smell and taste of cigs is disgusting. lols the way i'm quitting is i'm having my tonsils taken out so it looks like i'll be quitting.

one of my new years resolutions was to quit smoking. it lasted probably 2 weeks, when then i decided i'd just smoke on weekends or when i'm out. so now i do it in moderation. sometimes i'll go a whole week without smoking. sometimes i'll smoke a pack in one night (rare, but it happens). but i've definitely cut down a huge amount (i used to smoke almost a half pack every day). maybe just try cutting down gradually?

then again, according to many smokers i've spoken to, doing it in moderation doesn't work for everyone.

good luck man.

Thanks asshole.... I quit in December and this thread is making me jones!

The best advise is no matter what don't give in. Seriously, one puff of a smoke is enough to make your body remember it's addiction. After three days the worst is over, in three weeks you'll have a slight spell of craving but no big problem... in three months all the nicotine stored in your fat cells will release and you'll crave again for a few days after that.

FYI, I found exercise helps with the cravings.

yeah my sister did the same thing
its a really good idea, but 90% of the cigs i smoked were like in between classes, or driving places
not just sitting around at a place where i could easily get something to keep me occupied
started chewing on my pencil, i've ravaged it already

Thats what I did for awhile...I said that I'd only smoke while drinking or at parties...

Well when I smoked almost two packs in one night when I got wasted I decided maybe I should just stop all together
