But I am not so selfish because once you enter my house it then becomes our house and our house music and you see no one man owns house because house music is a universal language spoke and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you're deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music. tnx for encouraging my next great escape from strip mall hell, otherwise known as syracuse, a.k.a. sore-excuse. the drive to nyc is long, but goes quickly when i know there's kick-ass basslines and synths awaiting on the other end

there's really not much of a scene here to speak of. horrible bars aplenty playing awful mixtape cds in the spirit of "NOW that's WHAT i CALL music!!" but before i sell them short, i must add that the djs here are truly masters of pressing "play." nobody beats them at their own game. nobody.

haha I grew up in a town about 30 min from Syracuse. I pretty much associate the city with the Carousel Mall and Syracuse University. There are some pretty cool bars (if yr 21) and restaurants down in Armory Square downtown. Check out Clark's Ale House and the Blue Tusk. No good music, but definitely good beer on tap. Closest good clubs would prolly be Toronto or NYC, both pretty far drives Syracuse isnt that bad of a town though, not many cities that size in the states would have a clubbing scene to speak of either. Big name DJs in big name clubs usually only spin in major cities. Go to Dinosaur BBQ too - its good.

right on. will do. i need to start showing up at some of the local haunts, you know, to really absorb all that syracuse has to offer. you're right in that it isn't that bad....it's just that i'm from cali and am only here by accident, so i don't know the area very well. all i know is that it's 3.5 hrs from NYC without traffic

born and raised in syracuse, but just moved to pittsburgh back in september.

i partied way more when i lived there then i do now in pitt. syracuse is actually a great location:
4 hours to nyc
4 hours to toronto
4.5 hours to montreal
5 hours to boston
6 hours to dc

plus the airport is there for longer travel.

my sister is in syracuse for another month to finish up her co-op, then it's back to rochester. every once in a while i go back to visit family and friends. summer is great in that area!!

the central location is a good thing, i agree, but syracuse is hardly the hub of activity in this state. it has its pleasant surprises, but i feel completely at a loss here. for one, i can't eat whatever i want, which i'm irreparably accustomed to, coming from cali...land of multi-ethnic vending machines. i'm sorry, man, but when i need to get my asahi ramen on, i need to get my asahi ramen on! here, i'm forced to alternate between over-priced gringo mexican food and over-priced gringo thai food. i never realized how much i took my beloved baja fresh and king of thai noodle for granted....thank you, syracuse, for teaching me what's truly important in life

besides which, i get the creepy feeling that most locals never leave here (rubyriva excepted, of course). many have cautioned me about going to NYC, claiming there's nothing to do there. it's like friggin' brigadoon or something...blech different strokes for different folks i guess.
