Can anyone tell me a few specifications for epic, anthem, uplifting and progressive trance?
And I especially want to know what is exactly progressive, since some people just love it, and some simply hate it...

Thanks.

Progressive, progresses.
Trance puts you into a trance.
Uplifting lifts you up.
Epic is epic.

Epic, anthem, and uplifting are pretty much all the same thing: big focus on one major melody, usually introduced when all rhythm is reduced to nearly nothing (or nothing at all) so you can get the full impact of it. Normally the rhythm's very basic "wumpa wumpa wumpa wumpa" stuff; can't be letting any busy percussion get in the way of all those synths, after all. What causes the difference between the three is what kind of melody is used: epic tends to be grand, anthem energetic, and uplifting peppy.

Prog is kind of the opposite. More focus on rhythm and less on melody. Of melody used, it's often gradually introduced while the rhythm is in play.

I guess that explains it.
