Delerium - In Silence (Tiesto In Search Of Sunrise Remix)

That defines trance for me and was hugely popular to. Dunno about the others

well there is a difference between defining and popular. defining tracks of a genre are the very first tracks that gave the genre its name. that is how you find the pure, unadulterated definition of the genre when it earned its separateness from the rest. you go back to the beginning. none of these tracks were popular. popular tracks from these genres today could be wildly different from the "definition" of the genre itself.

basically, if you want tracks that define house, look between 1984-1987. if you want tracks that define trance look between 1990-1994. and for techno, 1984-1990.

defining tracks:
trance = resistance d - cosmic love
techno = cybotron - techno city
house = steve "silk" hurley - jack your body

popular tracks:
ask someone else

Why does everyone like that Tiesto remix of Silence? I think it's no good. The Above And Beyond one is much better I think.

definitely the original fade sanctuary mix is the best.

i agree cafe del mar is one of those classics that could define trance.. or at least trance circa 1993 or whenever.

William Orbit - Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)

That track name is basically the second name of Trance.
