I use my laptop for playback a lot, on a simple Altec Lansing 6 speaker set up. Nothing special, but it gets the job done.
I also use my iPod a lot, right now with Sony MDR-EX71 headphones. Battery life for my iPod is going to shit and so are the wires on my headphones, so these are out the door soon.
Next week I'm getting new headphones and a new mp3 player: Future Sonics EARS headphones and the iAudio M3L 20GB mp3 player. Can't wait!

I use my desktop PC. I usually burn CD's for the car though. I got an Ipod but I only use it when I go on trips or something.
I have an Altec Lansing 2 speaker setup on my desktop with a sub and it sounds AWESOME. The speakers are like 5 years old too. I had some new ones but they didn't sound as good. These one's are LOUD and they BUMP.

some altec lansing speakers and sub...like most everyone here. not amazing, but they get the job done. currently in the market for a new altec lansing system...maybe something in the surround sound area? while on the go dj_bas enjoys his Sony MD player, well he did until it started draining batteries like crazy.
does anyone else have that problem? i'll put fresh batteries in my MD player and about a week later its dead.

Still using my good old trusty, 5 year old Diamond Rio 500! Sure it only holds 128MB, but I love the thing.
