Cubase is a program on a whole different level than Reason, Cubase is a proffesional audio/midi recording program.. and Reason is a smaller program aimed more towards Electronic Music..

Like Subtle said. You see, in Cubase, you can record, master, mix, work with video and pictures, use VST and DX instruments and effects...you can do a lot of things with it. Reason is a closed environment so you can only use what's in it and that's it...unless you rewire it to Cubase or another sequemcer and then, Reason is not going to be your master proggie anymore.

I see Reason as a good starting tool for those just getting into producing music for the first time. I used it for over a year before finally switching over to Cubase. I hesitated for the longest time because Cubase is a lot more complex. Switching was the best decision I ever made. My production quality changed dramatically. It was like night and day. I would never go back. Once you work with the power and functionality that Cubase provides, Reason just seems more and more like a "toy" as my friend would always call it.

i'm mostly a dedicated cubase user myself, cubase is a fantastic sequencer, sometimes i'll still use reason through rewire, but i'd never use it as a standalone, although don't bash reason completely, because talented users can definately make professionally made songs with reason (given the use of later outside eq/compression etc.)

Am so curious to hear one of your reason produtions (prefer the last production before switching) and the productions you make in Cubase currently.

Would like to hear the difference in quality.

I use Reason re-wired both to Logic and Cubase. Sometimes I compose in Cubase, sometimes in Logic. I use Reason for sampling and synthesis, I hate the reason sequencer. In answer to your question is it professional. I would say yes. I have seen it reviewed as such in magazines and many pro producers list it in their studios.

I like the sound from it, the only forseaable problem is that as so many people use it, it may be harder to create a unique sound. But sometimes this is a good thing, just look at the Roland 303!
