Question MP3 Player vs CD/RW/MP3 Player

Okay, so I'm little bit behind the times here. My cassette Walkman (it's a Sony) finally crapped out on me, so I'm looking for a portable alternative. The two types I'm considering are: MP3 player and CD/RW/MP3 Player. What are the pros and cons of each type of player?

ive got a cd/mp3 player http://news.sel.sony.com/digitalima...photo_id=137558
i love it! its thin, light, looks nice. so its not as small as an mp3 player is, but i can still listen to CDs on it and for 6 months this was my CD player when i was away in holland.

if you're going with an mp3 player, like serge said, go with a flashed based one

I like the small size of the MP3 players and the recording functions on some of them, but I'm put off by the storage sizes. I don't want to get an iPod - too expensive. 1GB is okay size-wise but if you're stuck in a hospital, you pretty much end up listening to the same thing over and over. Some do accept flash memory cards, but those can cost as much as the player itself! Also, transferring MP3s to the player and memory card may be slow and bothersome, if you have to reload them everytime you want something different.

well i have a 20gb ipod, i am a music whore and i need alot of music with me so i dont have to be trading off sets/tracks all the time.

it lasts and lasts, usually use it for about 5 hours every day but it could go for at lesat 10, keep in mind that is if you do not use the backlight it sucks up ALOT of juice, have it as my alarm clock so i wake up to whatever set i chose.

its not cheap at all, it does weigh in alot more than most mp3 players, although for what it offers, i would pick an ipod 10 fold.

With ipodagent You can have news on it if you want, email, contacts, horiscopes, movie times, any notes.

I have horiscopes, contacts, movietimes, notes, work schedules, lyrics (about 50 of them) tracklistings,

the ipod mini can offer all of this, although u only get 6gb or 4gb, but they are friggin small!

I also have a 20 Gig Ipod and seriously... I may not listen to some of it ,but its the option of having it there if you want. Plus I have loads of full DJ sets on it with a few 4 hour mixes so a 1 Gig would get me nowhere. They're expensive but totally worth it IMO I think the battery life on mine is at about 8 hours. I'm thinking of upgrading to a better Ipod but i'm just waiting for the right time to get it before something else better comes out!

also u can use your ipod as a hard drive

so if you have any movies, documents, pr0n, or any other files u need from one spot to another and dont want to burn or transfer on the net, the ipod is your best friend

when i worked at an internet cafe i used mine to transfer game servers that i configured at home then brought to the cafe, saves SOOO much time.
