when I used to play smash bros with my friends, we had two basic rules:

no hammers (too cheap and easy)
no kirby (too cheap and easy)

I always loved being luigi

We have no rule against Kirby (my girlfriend is actually pretty damn good with Kirby), but we DO have official rules for playing proper matches of SSM. (We play every night... EVERY NIGHT.)

1. No hammers.
2. No tomatoes.
3. No hearts.
4. 5 Stock
5. If you play Pikachu, you're asking to get your ass kicked.

And our official dueling map is Peach's Castle. I've probably played that level more than all of the other levels combined.

I always use kirby, non of my friends had problems with that

Great game. Always turned off hammers. There really are no cheap characters. For instance I could always crush kirbies with donkey kong. You just have to know the combo moves.

same rules i play with. Especially the no kirby part.

Starfox is the best at instant death + ice climbers level.

i kick ass as pikachu, altho, i like jigglypuff & link more, and yes hammers are really cheap ..... but so much fun to use, and it's fun to use a star on someone that has a hammer

I reamber me and my friends went throu a SSM phase.Were all we would do is play SSM.My personal Fav. would always had to be Samus.We went on Gamecube and played SSM:Maliee......pretty much the only multi-player game me and my freinds played on GC.

We only had one rule: NO items (we saw them as cheap kills)

Fav. Stage: Zelda's castle

My Fav. Item would have to be the baseball bat though....pretty much if i got a hold of one...you were pretty much dead.Loved the sound it made when you were hit with the bat.
