Smile Couple of questions, plz help.

lo guys,

I moved house back in November to a much smaller place and rather than having 2 rooms with 1 for my records and PC and another for my bedroom, I've had to include all in 1.

My current situation is that I lack room in my room to get both my decks and mixer set up.

I will take photos to explain when I get home from work but if you were to walk in to my room, the doorway is in the bottom right corner of the room, on the left handside is my bed and along the wall to the left of my door is all my vinyl, in the top right corner of my room in the corner I have a curved desk with a wardrobe attached to it. On that curved desk I have my PC and on the right hand side of my room are some draws which go up as far as they can, therefore allowing the door to open in full.

The problem I have is because the PC takes up so much space of the curved desk, I only have enough room to put my 2 decks on my drawers, width and length wise I have no room to fit the mixer in, which is a nightmare - I could get a unit fixed in to the wall to get the mixer to stand on, but the wall is not concrete and it would not take the pressure I dont think. I spoke to a mate of my sisters and he told me there is a unit you can buy that seats the 2 decks and has a level that goes up that will make your mixer stand up in the air, above the decks, is that true? if so where can I get the device? I am in a dilemma where I cant start dj'ing again, please help me on what I can do, there's no possible way of me having 2 decks and a mixer length or width ways on my desk.

Another thing is, my old tape deck has buggered up, could someone recommend me a decent tape deck so I can play some old tapes of Jules shows etc, I dont want some shitty one that doesnt play them in good quality.

Apologies if I am waffling on a bit, I will take piccies of my room when I get home to show you what I mean!

Thanks lads.

I know htfr has something like that but usually it's for cd players and TTs and not a mixer and they are insanely expensive

Look under Dj Equipment>Turntable stands

http://www.htfr.com/more-info/?catno=MR106178

That right there is 140 quid and I'm not sure it'll work for a mixer

You might be better off going to your local music/dj equipment shop and they may have a better selection on stands cause what htfr has is purely dj and as I said before they're made for Cd or TTs

there's also this that's a stand for 2 decks and a mixer

Build something. I have my 2 decks, cd player, mixer, computer, monitor, monitor speakers, and vinyl on something i built. it takes up a 65" x 30" footprint.

As for tape decks...lol. you are better off connecting a tape deck to your PC, streaming it onto your pc, saving it as an mp3, and then bruning it as a .wav.

every time you play a tape it looses quality. get it on a digital medium now.

Give your vinyl to me Sim to make room for your mixer... haha... just joking. Sorry, I don't know of any furniture to help you.

Time to go down to B & Q! I had to build some deck funiture and went down to the MDF cutting section of my local B & Q and the guy there had loads of large offcuts he sold me 50p each. I spent £8 including screws and ended up having wood left over!.

Its not a case of getting new furniture because I have DRAWS which the decks are sat on, those draws are crammed with clothes etc, and there's nowhere else to move them, so getting a dj stand or some bollocks isntead is a no no

Maybe if you want an instant solution you could go down to your local hardware store and get some small wall mounting brackets and shelves for your mixer to sit on... and then it will be securely above the decks.

Just an idea... There a nice and quick way to save space... just remember to drill into the studs and not just the plaster... Could get messy

WTF simcut? first you say has anyone heard of deckstands blah blah, and then when some are suggested you say you don't need deck stands or furniture?.
You can screw brackets on to drywall/plaster using plaster board screws and using brackets that have large spacing between the screw holes (and have as many as possible) these should if properly mounted take the weight of a mixer. Go to you local DIY store and ask them which brackets and screw combination they recommend. It will be the most cost effective way of doing it.
