Final Scratch vs. Serato ScratchLive

FS soon availeble for WinXP. Serato do also work with WinXP, and are released this spring. And Serato have developed the unit together with Rane. so maybe sound quality will be better than FS.

but what do you think??

here is a link to Serato SL:

try putting your laptop on the same circuit as your mixer, that should solve your ground loop problem. or buy a ground loop isolator. it isnt a problem w/ final scratch, more of a problem w/ your electrical wiring.

Try a power conditioner to clean up your sound. They are fairly inexpensive (less than $100 US) and will eliminate most of the issues you get when running sound equipment through standard wiring.

I was gettign all kinds of hums and ticks on my system (especially when somebody turned on a light switch or something in another room) and it totally cleared up the problem for me.

I'm using SSL and I absolutely love it. Without exageration 10x better than FS 1.5.

I havent' been able to try FS2 to compare, but I still hear SSL edges it out.

Well I've owned both and I cannot stress this enough.............Final scratch is utter crap. The concept is good and the interface is nice but IT DOES NOT WORK. You get random audio drop outs, distortion/poor sound. Serato is a professional, well supported product with excellent hardware, frequent updates etc. Rane have basically made Stanton/NI look very very silly.

view my serato setup on my website www.extraurban.co.uk

apologies to the chap that bought my old final scratch lol

"Endless Loop: This allows Club DJ’s to spin and beat match mix all night long without having to reposition the needles on the time-coded vinyls."

So I would say not very important.
