Chemical Brothers

How many beats per minute are most of the chemical brothers tracks? I have the hardest time getting these to match, do they even follow traditional track structure? I know it's big beat, but that should be simliar to breakbeat right? Or am I wrong.

I notice most of the chemical brother stuff has intros and outros, is that how you're supposed to mix their tracks?

Thanks

Tim

i figure its the same as any beatmatching. just have to get used to the breakbeat sounds...pretty easy. almost like happycore and drum n bass. with the long intro's...i'll just start about 30-45 seconds before the beat kicks, or i'll just cue the next track with the first beat.

hope that helps

Yeah I know exactly what you mean they can be a total bitch, and it is totally different for each song too. Some are way way faster than you'd think (Golden Path) others (most) are just challenging because of their origonality.

But there is no doubt they are very hard to mix well in some cases (out of control is one that is ok though).

Yeah, their stuff is pretty original lol.

I was mainly trying to mix stuff like their Voodoo People remix and Block Rockin' Beats.

I think the CB force you to be creative with your transitions.

Surface to air sounds slow, but its like 140 BPM!

hmm it really goes from all ranges..
Galvanize is around 110 BPM, Star Guitar around 130 and Studio K around 145.. Some Tracks even have variable pitch like Elektrobank and some tracks even have fucked-up beats like It began in afrika (you'll always trainwreck there 'cos there's a moment where the pitch goes like 3%down and then back up in a nick of time, or maybe i just have a fucked-up cd but i doubt it...).
Then you have some problems with the transition as they can't be really that long (well most of them) 'cos they go right to the good parts.. oh well, try different techniques and eventually you'll find something that works to each track
Chemicals rule!

It Began in Afrika is awesome to mix out of though!
Tiesto actually does it decently at Dance Valley 2001 into Suburban Train.
