hi everyone
so i was wondering if today monday was a holiday since in france since this year this day which was usually a holiday became after a decision of our government a normal day where people had to work for the solidarity towards the seniors
of course as most of the time in my country everyone was striking bus airport post and a lot of compagnies so i was wondering if this monday was a holiday too or a normal day?
here most of the people don't accept to work for a so called solidarity towards the seniors because we know all this money collected won't be used for them but for something different
but maybe we should stop complaining or?
discuss !

heard about it on the radio. And I think its stupid, solidarity with the elderly? Forcing people to work for no pay (which sounds communist and out of this world), does not make any sense in 2005.
By the way, in Canada it was not a holiday today.
We have a holiday on next monday though, in Canada its the Victoria day, in Quebec its Dollard's day (not the money, the guy, read about him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Dollard-des-Ormeaux).

the idea sounds kinda cool, but not really... hehe... anyway what i find funny is that its always strikes going on in france if they didnt do this, then ppl would strike because they did it, now when they did, they striked cause they did... if they raised taxes because you wanted to give money to the eldery, then they would strike, if they didnt raise taxes you would strike because you didnt give the eldery enough money etc

Forced solidarity is pretty much an oxymoron. Stupid idea.
Yesterday (monday) was a holiday in Denmark. Something to do with Christ.

Striking = Main reason why I hate this country and it's peoples negative state of mind. I truly hate it to bits. They are destroying themselves but too blind and selfish to realize it.
It's like people complaining because we have to pay 1 Euro for a doctors appointment now .... 1 EURO???!???? That's like the cheapest in the whole world.
