But if you check the same threads Extremely Regularly, then there's no point in starting at the beginning of the thread every single time. Some people might appreciate the option to skip all the crap they've read already, even if they read like the beginning and skipped over to the end, and would like to just go to the end all the time. Like I said, I have this option on my Nissan forum, and it RULES. What's more, the dates and times are stamped clearly, and so it's easy as cake to just pan down a little bit to get to where you left off if you were on vacation for a couple days and lost touch or something. Plus, there's always the option to switch back if you were gone long enough to have more than a page of unread messages.
My point is that it's a good option to offer members, and it saves a shitload of time for people who check in every day or whatnot. and especially for people who have dial-up, yes there are some people who still have dial-up, who would otherwise have to wait 5 minutes for one page of messages to load up, and then realize they already read all those, and then sit there and try and pick what page to try and waste time on next.
It's a good IDEA, and something that some people might highly value. This is, after all, the Site Suggestions forum. Don't crap all over an idea if you don't have any experience with it.
