Hey.
-Good opening.
-Seems like you need more reverb on your instruments, generally, even for woodwinds, the horns/strings continue to vibrate after you stop playing them and to get this same effect in synthesis, you need a slight reverb on them .
-More stereo action is also needed. When youre in a concert, esepcially in a well built auditorium, you can tell a different of where insturments are comign from on stage. Itll add more to the realism. For your style, lay the instruments out like this.
-I love the clarinets that come in. Beautiful .
-For the break to silence, try to make it more powerful with the timpanis. Make them shout over everything so you feel it, then hit a crash then cut to silence as the reverb decays.
-The break is good, i like .
-Good break in. Very transparent and well done.
-Love the harp and the oboe. They are great choices for a dualing melody.
-A great instrument to acompany this to get a more powerful feeling are french horns. They can make a piece sound very powerful. It seems your ending is lacking but I think it can be fixed by adding a powerful counter-melody using french horns. Also, dont end so lightly. Most classical pieces end fast and hard. Most, especially pieces like this, dont end lightly, they end loud and hard hitting, liek the break away I was speaking of earlier. Hit it hard with insturments and a crash and let it decay from the loudness.
Overall, this piece is wonderfully composed. I'd love to hear it in a real band. You definantly have some serious potential at making good orchestral pieces , you just need some touchups.
Grade A
Cheers,
Zac
