Dunno turntable holding pitch.

I have a pair of Gemini PT 2410s and recently I have been finding it exceedingly hard to mix on them. I notice that when I have 2 tracks beat-matched, I keep having to adjust every 15secs or so. Furthermore, when I spin out at clubs on Techs I find it easier to beat match and hold a mix without adjusting the pitch as often. Also I feel like my pitch control is not as responsive when trying to correct drifting as that of the techs.
How can I test my table to see if it is fact messed up? I have a bpm counter on my Kaoss pad 2 and that sometimes fluctuates. ie if a track is 138bpm it will fluctuate between 137 and 138.. but maybe this is normal as beat counters cant be all that accurate...
and also if it is in fact buggered, how can I fix it?

Cheers.

I think your TT is probably just not accurate enough. You could try getting 2 copies of the same record, set the pitches at zero and beatmatch them. They should stay in sync.

i have the EXACT same problem. i mix on techs in a club, and i'm fine, but at home on my PT2410s, my pitch won't hold. it's def a problem with the tables. they only have a pitch adjustment of .1% anyway, so making longer transitions is already harder to begin with. i bought my PT2410s used for $100 a piece last May, so i'm not really bummed about it (i've gotten so much use out of them). currently, i am in market to upgrade to techs...i'd probably suggest that you do the same. i don't really think that pumping money into fixing these tables is really worth it.

to test get two copies of the same tune
put the pitch on both set to the same
play them together and they shouldnt drift

will give you a ballpark accuracy figure

yea piece of shit tables... I bought them new too which means for a bit more moeny I coulda got techs.
one good thing though is that I am damn confident about mixing in a club now as I know it is alot easier than at home (I spin techno with alot long mixes). also ive learnt to correct very well since ive been having to do it so often eeach time I want to pull off a decent mix. I may just keep them for this reason.

In gemini's defence, i had the PT2100s and loved them to bits. they pissed on every other turntable in that price range, e.g stantons, numarks. they don't compare to techs by no means but i still think they were awesome. never had any problems holdng tunes beatmatched, in fact i found it easy to mix on them than vestax/numarks

yeah...i've def. learned how to correct very well. it's weird when i'm playing out tho, because when i'm at home, i just know that the pitch isn't gonna hold on 5/10 of my transitions. but when i'm playing out on better equip, i expect that same thing to happen and it doesn't. it's a great feeling really.

also, i paid $200 combined for these decks, so i figured that these tables would crap on me eventually. i knew that i wasn't gonna get years of use out of them, but i def. got my money's worth and i'm really pleased about that.

i had,or still have somewhere a pair of geminis, used them for a year or so and to be honest they suck, the pitch will not hold for long and god forbid you touch the platter to match the beats *trainwreck*.....switch to techs, thats what i did and couldnt be happier
