Midi Keyboards

PC/Mac Evolution MK-125 £79.95 Evolution www.evolution.co.uk
A mini keyboard with full size keys, this is a handy inputting device for bass and lead lines, and the included Dance Station software is great too.

PC/Mac Evolution MK-261 £149.95 Evolution www.evolution.co.uk The MK-261 delivers everything you'd expect from a controller keyboard with style, and the included Sound Studio sequencer makes this a bargain.

PC/Mac Studiologic SL-61 £159.95 Arbiter www.arbitergroup.com No bundled software, but superb key action make this five octave board clearly aimed at the competent player. Highly recommended.

PC/Mac Korg N364 £899 Korg UK www.korg.co.uk
Some nice sounds but showing its age in terms of editing and control, and expensive for what you get

PC/Mac Korg N5EX £725 Korg UK www.korg.co.uk
Good range of sounds but the editing power doesn’t go as far as you’d think. Lagging behind the competition

PC/Mac MK-61 £99 BCK www.bck.co.uk
This is one of the cheapest five-octave keyboard's going, and it's impressively sturdy and easy to control - definitely worth a look.

PC/Mac BCK MK-61 ££149.95 BCK www.bck.co.uk
A great five octave keyboard on its own terms, but there are slightly cheaper models out there that offer somewhat more in terms of features.

PC/Mac BCK MIDI PRO ££149.95 BCK www.bck.co.uk
Four octave model sporting an excellent control interface but a bit of a lacking action. Not one for the serious performer, but great for simple note inputting.

PC/Mac Roland PC-300 £139.83 Roland UK www.roland.co.uk
One of the best keyboards we've seen for the money, featuring excellent key action and unique in that it connects via USB.

take your pick, all the best

If you wanna use it as a controller, maybe it's cheaper to pick up a second hand DX-7, they don't go for much I think these days, they are built like a tank, they have all the functions you need (aftertouch, velocity, pitch bend, modulation what am I forgetting) and you even get a cool Frequency Modulation synth.
(I use one)
