i am buying a pair of Technics off ebay, because im too broke to afford a new pair, they look like they have been taken good care of, aside from one of the pop up lights is burned out (but im not too concerned with this) what worries me is on one turntable one of the fork things that goes at the end of the ground wire has been ripped off, so my question is could i just wrap this around the ground plug in the back of my mixer or should i replace the RCA rables rigth away, and if i need to replace them where would i buy them?
thank you all soooo much for your help

If it's just the ground wire "fork" as you call it no need to replace you cable.
Just strip the cable a little bit and wrap it around the ground plug on your mixer just like you said and you'll be fine

Yep exactly what he said... and if those two are the only problems with the Tables and you are getting a good bargin (low shipping) then go for it. You can never go wrong with the Technics.
P.S what model are they?

Interestingly enough, the two techs I bought on ebay had the exact same problems, or at least, one of them had both those problems. Neither are particularly harmful. Technics are fucking tanks, you have to really try in order to destroy one. Makes them a safe buy secondhand. Best of luck.

Ack! How about you go to Radio Shack and by a little package of spade connectors (that's what they are called), and a pair of crimpers... add a new connector!

My main one over 15 years old
second one is about 8
third is about 4
Still perfect.
Was he trying to sell you a pair of numarks at the time by any chance?
Ground fork no big deal- couple of mine dont have it either.
Just strip the end of the ground wire and tie yourself a little loop to hook onto the post.
Touch it with a dab of solder too- makes it stiffer and easier to position.

i had the same problem when i bought my used techs, even worse, the cables were really busted, but you can change them easily and your tables will look cooler. i replaced the red/black rca cables for some plated ones and also replaced the ground wire 2, there are instructions on the web on how to do it, if you can't find it let me know that i think i still have the info somewhere
good luck with your new toys!
