Toshiba Satellite P30 is near the top of my shopping list (just below food and essential items).

Im gonna go against the grain here and say stay the hell away from toshiba. Working in the tech field of all the laptops I have dealt with toshiba's have the most problems. On the upside they are usually cheaper, hence why many people buy them.
My recommendations:
go for a Dell, acer or HP. Dell is my personal fav of the bunch, they make great machines.
Go for a Centrino based laptop, they are awesome with battery usage and come with wireless standard. And for graphics card Id recommend the Radeon, 9700 or the newer x700.

HP's are generally very good notebooks! My sister has one and is extremely happy with it.
