up to 1:25, sounds quite german/euro, was expecting a cheesy kick but it wasn't luckily.
i dont really like the hihat, it sounds out of sync and u need a bit of reverb on it.
also a bit of reverb on the clap will help.
the tune isnt really my style but it sounds decent.
the pads are good.
the synths are a bit computer-ish, try cutting the filter frequency or the *sustain* a tad.
up to 5:15, the song sounds all fine and very dancable but i really dislike that hihat, and i think others will agree with me, it sounds really out of sync and would be a bitch to mix with.
and also i agree, u need a bit of variation like reverse kicks or claps, whatever sounds best.
edit: sorry i meant sustain not decay :P

Interesting track dude, a like the techy feel of it and theres some nice fx in it. Nice intro, the strings could do with a bit more tweaking though, but its getting there. Cool effect at 1.21. You use it a lot in the track... I think its pretty tight.
The hihats needs some more layering. Try dropping in some open hi hats on the kick and a few more closed hihats slightly after the main ones. Should help you get more of a rolling feel to it. Theres was something else about the percs and then I realised it was the clap... stick a big nasty reverb on that ****** and use liberally. Will trance up your track big time
Diggin on the melody up until 1.50 and then it just gets a bit generic or something. It all starts coming together at 5.30, kinda digging on the groove and then it looses the feel at 6.20. A progression of the good part of the melody would be better than that random arpeggio you bring in.
Anyway, nice work mate. Have fun in Oz! Drop us an email if you make it down to Sydney |
What sort of tweaking do you have in mind for the strings? There's something just missing from them alright, but I can't put my finger on it. As for the hats I'll try the open on the kick. Quick question for the extra ones after the kick what sort of quantise would sound right? 1/32 maybe? As for reverb, yeah very much needed. The song is 100% dry excetp for the reverb coming straight from the synths. Must wetten up the whole mix.
I must try reworking that melody alright. I love the first one alright and some sort of progression would definitely sound better. It's definitely needing a bit of work. It's only a week old at the moment so still in its infancy.
What do you think of the filtering and sound effects put into the main breakdown? I wasn't sure if I'd overdone parts of it?
Anyways shout me up with some advice when you get a chance

Yeah, that's true. Was at an Armin set last Friday and by God my arms were sore at the end of some of the breaks! You end up taking your arms down every so often rubbing them in pain and then straight back up again. Worth it though.
Stratotek:
Man, that is the best description of a good trance set I ever heard...
