How to get that ultra subby low THUMP in trance music?

I'm trying to get that sound..

compressor wont do it.
mastering wont do it.
eq wont do it..

what do I do, layer it with another sub sound drum without any middle-high frequencies?

Would love any input.

You can listen to a track here: http://www.emortal.se/music/emortal-feel2.mp3

As you can hear, theres bass on it, but no THUMP in the kick, not compared to commercial stuff (and thats the sound I want)

I'm using cubase in my setup.

easiest way is to layer it with a kick that has a good sub range. eq the bass out of your existing kick to leave the punch, and eq the tops out of the new kick so only the bass is mixed in.

some more experienced pros in here will probably give you some better advice...

I usually use BBE sonic maximzer to fatten up the low-end to my kicks. The problem with the kick in your track is that it has too much mid/high frequencies, and not enough low end frequencies. If you change the kick tho (which you'll have to do) you'll have to change everything else so the mix sits good again.

Either way, love the vocals. Looking for any possible remixes?

Thanks a lot Rob!

Yeah, I boosted those frequencies too much I think trying to get a punchier bass.

I'll check out changing kick, I have stylus rmx and I bet theres some nice kick waiting for me there

Also, I'll check out that bbe sonic maximizer, is there a demo for it somewhere?

Sub bass in Logic works wonders. Absolutely spectacular!

I just discovered the sound modules part in stylus rmx, so I've got tons of great kicks now

All that mattered was getting the right sound, compressing it and fixing eq in 45-50 hz area

if you whant a punchy mid freq kick with lots of lows make sure the actual punch of the kick is how you want it but add (with eqing and filetering) another sub kick with a long tail. it will be kinda hard to fit in the mix, but its gonna be fat and punchy.
