well i think i'm going to start giving more reviews of mixes in here...and why not start with yours.
Daso - Go Upstairs ====> PJ Davy - Heavy's Tune
well the transition is a little shakey, but you already know that. i'm not the best at placing what exactly is off, but i think it sounds like the PJ Davy tune is a little fast when you're bringing it in. as for the eqing...maybe the PJ Davy track is a little bass heavy in the mix. maybe keep it down until that huge bassline comes in and then really jam it up. Like both of the tunes...especially the PJ Davy one.
PJ Davy - Heavy's Tune ====> Martin Peter - A-C-A-B
I think you're ahead again on this mix. also i'm not sure if it's just a wierd phrase or if it's off, but it's a little awkward on the mix because the next part of the phrase for A-C-A-B starts before it should. that higher octave synth that comes in sounds like it comes in about 4 beats before it should. i did also feel like the energy level dropped off a bit with this track mostly because the PJ Davy track has such a big bassline.
Martin Peter - A-C-A-B ====> Tahiti 80 - Big Day
I really like this mix...these tracks flow into each other really nicely and the beat on this Tahiti 80 track constrasts well with the Martin Peter track. starts to bring the energy back up to where it should be. I think the A-C-A-B track would be a great second track for this set as it's pretty bass-less (or later in a set to bring things down a bit)...with this Tahiti 80 track coming next...start to get some groove going. just seems like the PJ Davy track is a little out of place so early in the set.
Tahiti 80 - Big Day ====> Kama & Mc Gregor - Playground (Zoo Brazil Remix)
Another good mix. a little stumble on the beatmatch, but it's still good. once again i think you are a little fast on bringing the new track in...i think you try to rush your mixes abit, but i think that will change when you feel like you really start to nail them. flow wise this is a good progression in the set...it's definitely going somewhere.
Kama & Mc Gregor - Playground (Zoo Brazil Remix) ====> Lindstrom - I Feel Space (Freeform Reform Parts)
This is a solid mix. the beatmatching is good and levels seem good too. i think this is a great place in the set for this tune. it's a nice tune and it switches up the feel well. also just a good place in the set for some vocals i think. i really like both of these tunes...
Lindstrom - I Feel Space (Freeform Reform Parts) ====> Chelonis Jones - One On One (Desyn Masiello Edit)
i think this time you were behind and then corrected, a pretty good recover. when the vocals fade you can still hear they are a little off, i just think you over corrected a bit. another good progression in the set though. another vocal track, but they have a different sound and feel to them so i think it works really nice.
Chelonis Jones - One On One (Desyn Masiello Edit) ====> The Timewriter - Siamese Hearts
i like the timewriter track after this, but a personal opinion that maybe you started your mix a little late out of the One On One track. i just think you lost some of the energy you had going, which otherwise would have flowed nicely with this next tune.
The Timewriter - Siamese Hearts ====> Terry Lee Brown Jr - Straight Flush
again i think you're fast on the mix, but a decent recovery. i think depending on time and place this track placement might be ok. its a nice track...i like a lot of terry lee brown jr's work, but it depends on if this is a home mix or a club mix. home mix...i say keep it, but club mix...i might be getting ancy because the energy of the mix is down.
Terry Lee Brown Jr - Straight Flush ====> Soda Inc - Sweat Sour
see now a track like this Soda Inc one coming in now, i woulda preferred to hear a track like this one after the Timewriter track because it would pick back up the energy. nothing wrong with breaks in a mix, but i personally don't like very long ones. mixing same as the others so nothing really new to say about it.
Soda Inc - Sweat Sour ====> Dousk - Robot (Out Of Battery Mix)
another solid mix here. the beatmatch is pretty on and the tracks flow out of each other well. the dousk track keeps things driving...switches up the sound great. keeps things interesting and going somewhere. great track.
Dousk - Robot (Out Of Battery Mix) ====> Prawler - Frisco
I noticed your tracklist was wrong here ...this isn't the Stylophinc track, it's Prawler - Frisco. I've always loved this tune so i was glad you played it hehe. The mix is pretty solid...good beatmatch. maybe some EQ could help them stick together a little better at some points.
Prawler - Frisco ====> Bedrock - Santiago (La Coruna Mix)
another good mix and another great tune. they stick well together and they both have the summer feel to them so the flow is great too. really nice. a couple of sliding spots but you corrected them well.
Bedrock - Santiago (La Coruna Mix) ====> Bedrock - Emerald (Bedrock Dub)
another pretty good mix. the tunes mix well obviously. i guess my only thoughts about the end of the set here is don't let yourself slide too much into a bunch of similar tracks here. what makes music interesting is the contrasts in sound. these songs all mix well together, but just be careful not to overdue that summer progressive sound here at the end.
overall i liked the mix. you already know you have some work to do on the mixing, but i thought it got better over the course of the mix. good track selections and for the most part they all flowed well. just like i said maybe a couple of tracks could be used in a different mix or moved around a bit to help with continuity, but overall i thought it was good.
i hope what i said was helpful...
oh and 2nd who is that hot chick in your av? hehehe
