i know this is gonna sound like an awful question to all u clued up out there, but what is the definition of progressive trance / house
im under the impression that its jus a constant beat with no breakdowns or major changes in beats??

Can you take the color blue out of the sky? Can you grab the mountains and put them in a pocket? Can you sit down at a table with a knife and fork and try to eat a rainbow? NO! Such is progressive.

No I don't think it's the same, continuous beat, at all. I just got Sasha + Digweed - Northern Exposure Vol 2 East Coast today, and I'd say that is prog trance/house/breakbeat. Much like prog rock (Yes/Genesis/King Crimson/Rush) I think prog electronica takes different time sigs and elements and combines them in an unlikely way. It's not all straight 4/4. I'm fairly new to electronica, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Unfortunately no one can be told what progressive is... you have to hear it for yourself

Ive never heard a progressive house/trance/breaks track in any other than 4/4...
