Can anyone recommend a good MP3 library software for DJs? I'm looking for a piece of software which can hopefully scan tracks and make a searchable database of information including stuff like bpm (possibly key), the sort of information most people don't care about.
Great question!... I don't know of any software but maybe you could use something like iTunes and put info like BPM or Key or whatever in an un-related field like "genre" and then sorty by genre... since iTunes doesn't have a field for Key, etc... I *think* they have a pre-set field for BPM though!
I know software like ScratchLive will read your iTunes library too so it's pretty easy!

Traktor does all this and will put the information in the MP3 tag if you want. I don't know how the tag information could be extracted for printing out or using in other programs.
It works great within Traktor, you can quickly sort your tracks collection by BPM, key, artist, genre etc, you can even do this while spinning.

Does anyone know if it's possible to make iTunes scan folders for new music everytime it's opened?
Like if I add a folder to my library is it possible to have that folder scanned for new songs whenever I open it?
I'm fairly certain that its not possible, but I'd love to be proven wrong. Thats really the biggest gripe I have about iTunes. I have a digital downloads folder for the mp3s I buy, and I hate having to go back and look up which ones I've added already.
