i wonder if the low amount of replies is due to the limited nature of +FAX's releases or due to lack of knowledge on the part of TA.
where are all the 'ambient' freaks?

i have two fax releases: Xangadix & The MS-Series. Xangadix had been an obsession with me. MS is ok. My story about Xangadix in another thread says it all for me. I think most of the releases were limited to 1000 copies.
CDs you are hunting for
| quote: | what a timely thread for me cos i just received in the mail a CD i've been after for 10 years!
Xangadix - Xangadix
ten years ago while i was listening to a local dj's electronic music show, he played a tune that just got seared into my brain. unfortunately i never recorded it nor wrote down the artist or track name. i had a rough idea of what name sounded like but no idea on how to spell it. shortly thereafter i moved away.
over the intervening years, i searched the web and record stores, but with no clear spelling, label or sample, my searches were always fruitless. i also tried to locate the dj to get a lead, but even that effort was a dead-end because he just completely disappeared not long after i moved away and i only had his on-air name.
about one month ago, i spent some time searching for various spellings of what i thought the artist's name might be, and i finally found an artist that sounded remotely to it. i wasn't even sure it was the correct artist. to my unhappy surprise, i learned that the artist only released 1000 copies of the CD that might contain the composition i was after. in any case, i wasn't sure if this was even the correct artist or CD i was after. again, it seemed hopeless.
undettered, i began to look for the artist and the CD and to my surprise, i found a brand new one for sale. i would have gladly paid over 200 euros for it, even though i still was unsure about it, but got it for an amazingly cheap 20 euros.
after two anxious weeks waiting, i finally received it in the mail several days ago. needless to say, i played it right away and it was the right one!
its so bizarre that the CD is in absolutely mint condition. any shrink-wrapping it may have had at one time must have disintegrated years ago. although the cover bears the marks of shelving, the sleeve is unopened and the CD is like glass. even the thick plastic cover is cool. apparently its been lying around in some warehouse or on some store shelf for last 10 years. ahh life is soooo good.
there are about three others that i'm after but i'm not mentioning them (sorry, i don't need the competition) |
i'm putting it on right now. it builds up for 2 minutes and the melody just drops in at 2:40.
